Nanay’s house reconstruction is underway!

Nanay’s house reconstruction is underway!

Hello!

Hope you’re having a great week! Finally it’s Friday again!

Before the weekdays end, I would like to share a short story and hopefully, you get inspired by it.

Last December, my partner and I went to our province in Marinduque to accompany and help my mother get her birth certificate copy. It was my mother’s recent visit to Marinduqe after so many years. She stayed in Laguna and Cavite for so long and it’s been a while since the last time she came back to our hometown.

We have a small bungalow house in Sta. Cruz Marinduque where my parents raised all of their children. Back then, our house was one of the beautiful houses in our barangay. It was the fruit of my father and mother’s hardwork and dedication. They used to own a cafeteria at my Tito’s manufacturing company in San Pedro, Laguna. The business was doing well and they were able to save some money to build their dream house. The house has 3 big bedrooms, bathroom, dining area, small kitchen, living room, and my favourite part, the veranda. The exterior was painted in white and pink with our last name’s initial “H” at the centre. I can still remember how proud my parents were when they’re able to build a home from a small nipa hut where we used to live to their dream house.

Unfortunately, my parents had to stay in Laguna to run their cafeteria business. My siblings and I had to leave our province to study or work. My other siblings started building their own families as well. In short, our house got abandoned. It’s been unoccupied for a couple of years. So, when we went back to our province last December, this was what our house looked like:

Everything was broken. From appliances to furniture to every part of the house, I barely recognized it’s the home we used to live in as little kids. For me, it’s no longer livable.

I saw in my mother’s eyes the disappointment. She is now turning 70 this year and we’re planning to celebrate her birthday in our province. But how can we celebrate it in our hometown if our house is no longer livable?

Without hesitation I told my mom, “it’s not too late. Let’s fix everything.”

I think it’s about time to give back to my mother. She worked really hard to send us to school and give us a decent life. This is just a simple way of showing how grateful I am for all the sacrifices she’s done. Fast forward, my nanay’s house reconstruction is underway. The target date of completion is before November this year so we can celebrate my mother’s birthday together with the entire clan.

I’m sharing this not to boast or something. I’m sharing this to give inspiration to other people. Don’t give up on yourself, work hard until you reach your goals. Time will come for your success and all your hard work will pay off. When that time comes, don’t forget those people who helped and inspired you. Make sure to give back the love and support you received from them.

Here’s the picture of our current house and the reconstruction is underway. I’ll keep you posted on the progress of the house.

Love lots,

Kajea
