The Ant and the Grasshopper

The Ant and the Grasshopper

Summer is over and tag-ulan na naman.

Maybe it’s because it was one of my favourite stories when I was a kid.

Usually, the lesson in this story is to work hard, mag-ipon para mapaghandaan ang anumang problema o sakuna sa buhay natin.

Growing up as a child, I used to believe this lesson. But over time, I realised that what we need to learn is to balance both the perspectives of the ant and the grasshopper.

Yes, the ant is right that we should work hard, invest, save some money for the future and for emergency purposes.

But at the same time, the grasshopper is also right. We should not let our work consume all of our time and energy.

We must work hard, but we should never forget to relax and unwind.

Life is short, so we must make the most of our time doing the things that we love. But we should know our limitations. We should know how to perfectly balance our life.

It’s okay to work hard during weekdays, but make sure to party during weekends lol.

I hope you’re getting my point.

May the story of the ant and the grasshopper teach us to have a work-life balance. This, I guess, is one of the keys to our ultimate happiness.

Love lots,

Kajea
