When I started my career as a freelancer, I had so many struggles and challenges.
First, I didn’t have much experience.
Before entering the world of freelancing, I worked in the corporate world. My transition from working as a full-time regular employee to a freelancer was not easy. Most of the clients I applied for were looking for someone who already has years of freelance experience. I had a hard time landing my first client.
Second, I didn’t have the skills.
I’m an accountancy graduate so I definitely have a background in bookkeeping, accounting, finman and other related areas. But my skills back then were not enough. I wasn't an expert in using modern tools like XERO and QBO. Apart from that, I also had zero experience in lead generation, social media management, virtual and executive assistance, and other freelancing tasks.
Third, I didn't have the network.
Having a network in the world of freelancing is definitely an advantage. You’ll be able to find new clients easily if you have a strong network. But I didn't have that kind of support when I was starting. I looked for clients using my own abilities, hard work and dedication.
Fourth, I didn't have the tools.
I didn't have access to the tools that a freelancer needs to get started. I didn't have my own laptop, a comfortable working station, headset, and others. I had to borrow all of these from my sister.
Fifth, I didn't have assurance.
Fear of the unknown. As someone who had no idea what would happen to me as a freelancer, I had no assurance back then. Pano kung di ko masustain ang needs ng family ko? Pano kung di maging stable and income ko? Pano kung mag fail ako? These are the questions I always asked myself when I started as a freelancer. Madaming doubts, madaming tanong.
Despite those challenges and struggles, I persevered.
Despite my lack of experience, I still tried cause I knew I would gain the experience some clients need if I continue my freelance journey,
Despite having no skills, sinubukan ko pa din. I worked on myself, I attended some trainings, and I asked for support from experts.
Despite having no network, it didn't stop me. I knew one day I would be able to build my own network, and I did.
Despite having no tools, I didn’t give up. From the small income I earned from one to two clients, I invested in the tools that would help me to be more productive and efficient at work.
Despite having no assurance, I put my heart and soul into my work. I took the risk. I took the leap.
As a result, my life has changed drastically at PAPUNTA PA LANG TAYO SA EXCITING PART!
Now, I have so much experience as a freelancer. As a matter of fact, I am helping aspiring freelancers to grow as well.
Now, I have so much skills and expertise. I can say I’m a XERO and QBO expert. I can do lead generation, social media management, email marketing and other freelancing skills.
Now, I have a huge network. I have different clients trusting my craft. I also help freelancers by recommending them to some of my clients I know.
Now, I have the tools needed. As a matter of fact, I have a group of people helping me in my daily work. I was able to establish a group of individuals who are passionate and hard working.
Now, wala na ko doubts.
These are all the fruits of my hard work and dedication.
If you are experiencing the struggles I faced before, know that you can overcome them too.
You just have to trust yourself and believe that you can do great things as well.
Kapit lang kapatid.
MAKAKARATING KA DIN SA EXCITING PART!
Love lots,
